Write a testable promise
Use this structure: I help [specific person] achieve [specific result] without [major frustration]. If the audience or result is vague, interviews will be vague too.
Run five problem interviews
Ask about what they did recently, what it cost and what they disliked. Avoid pitching until you understand their current behaviour.
- When did this last happen?
- How do you solve it today?
- What have you already tried?
- What makes the problem urgent—or ignorable?
Ask for meaningful commitment
A useful signal is behaviour: a paid pilot, deposit, booked call, email introduction or permission to follow up on a date. Likes and compliments are weak signals.
- Set a pass/fail threshold before testing
- Record exact objections
- Change one assumption at a time
- Stop or narrow the idea if evidence stays weak
